Gail began playing the piano at the age of 3, and the flute at the age of 7. Having attained her Piano ABRSM Grade 8 at a young age of 11, she also began focusing on her flute studies. During her time at School of the Arts as a music student majoring in flute performance, she had primarily been under the tutelage of Roberto Alvarez, Assistant Principal Piccolo in the Singapore Symphony Orchestra. Some of her notable achievements include clinching 2nd place in the Raffles International Music Festival Competition- Woodwind Ensemble category in 2014, and the Gold Award in the Singapore Flute festival Junior Category in 2015. She also participated in masterclasses with international renown flautists such as William Bennett, Paul Edmund-davies, and Emily Skala. Praised by the Straits Times in Singapore National Youth Orchestra’s performance of Beethoven 7 in 2016 for her “outstanding performance” as principal flautist, she continues to actively perform with various orchestras and ensemble groups.
