
Teacher Jayna

Jayna began playing dizi at the age of 13, under the tutelage of Mr Phang Thean Siong and Ms Janice Chua. After secondary school, she continued her musical journey in Ngee Ann Polytechnic’s Chinese Orchestra. Jayna is also an active member of Marsiling Chinese Orchestra, which was established in 2004 under the baton of conductor Mr Low Cher Yong and is currently the dizi sectional leader. She has performed in many events such as Beautiful Sunday at Esplanade concert hall (2017) and Singapore Raffles Cultural & Arts Festival Music competition (2017). She was also invited as a soloist in many community events such as Prime Minister’s Chinese New Year Garden Party at Gardens by the Bay (2018), Hari Raya at Istana Open House (2019) and PassionArts festival at Telok Blangah (2019). Some of her outstanding achievements include attaining a Merit in Grade 9 exam jointly conducted by Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts and the Central Conservatory of Music. Jayna continues to actively perform in many community events and seeks to improve herself constantly throughout her music career.
